PRODUCER’S STATEMENT
When Paige approached me with Anchor, I knew I wanted to tackle this project because it was telling a very real and honest story. It wasn’t trying to make things look pretty and shiny. We wanted to create a movie that would challenge the viewer and force them to see the reality ofsexual assault and to put the viewer in an uncomfortable place of watching the main character make decisions, that in reality should never be his decision to make, since he isn’t the one who is assaulted.
My work on this project was trying to find the right locations, find the right actors, and help develop the script further to make sure we were telling the strongest story possible. I never wanted to stray away from Paige’s vision and script, only help with small details that required a second eye on to make sure things were making sense. I feel we achieved those things and that the story we’re telling is important.
My hope is that this story reaches people and opens their eyes to the reality of sports and sexual assault cases and that we can generate a conversation.
